Medical & Insurance

Your health and safety abroad — what Rotary requires and what you need to arrange.

Medical Fitness

All outbound students must undergo a full medical examination before departure. A completed Rotary medical form, signed by a registered doctor, is a mandatory part of your Stage 2 application. The examination should cover general health, vision, hearing, dental and mental health.

⚠️ Any ongoing medical condition must be disclosed in your application. Failure to disclose a condition may result in repatriation and cancellation of the exchange at the student's expense.

Vaccinations

Ensure all routine vaccinations are up to date. Additional vaccinations may be required depending on your destination country. Consult your doctor at least 8 weeks before departure to allow time for any multi-dose vaccines.

Routine vaccinations (MMR, DTP, Polio, Hepatitis B)
Typhoid — recommended for all travellers from India
Hepatitis A — recommended
Destination-specific vaccines — confirm with your doctor

Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all Rotary exchange students. Your policy must cover the following for the full duration of your exchange:

Medical and hospitalisation expenses
Emergency repatriation
Trip cancellation and curtailment
Baggage loss and delay
Personal liability
Emergency dental treatment

Prescription Medication

If you take regular medication, bring an adequate supply for the full duration of your exchange, along with a doctor's letter in English explaining the medication and dosage. Some medications freely available in India may be controlled substances in your destination country — check before you travel.
