Hosting a Rotary exchange student is one of the most rewarding experiences a family can have. You don't need to be a Rotarian — just warm, welcoming and curious about the world.

Host families are not expected to fund the student's personal expenses. A clear allowance system is in place.

What Does Hosting Involve?

Hosting period
Each host family hosts the student for 3–4 months. Most inbound students have 2–3 host families during their year in Jamshedpur.
Accommodation
The student needs their own bedroom. They eat meals with the family and are treated as a family member.
School transport
Host families are expected to assist with transport to and from school, or help the student arrange it.
Pastoral care
You are responsible for the student's day-to-day wellbeing — health, safety, emotional support and cultural adjustment.
Stay in contact with Rotary
Host families maintain regular contact with the student's Rotary counsellor and attend host family orientations.

Who Can Be a Host Family?

You do not need to be a Rotarian to host. Any family in the Jamshedpur area that meets the following criteria is welcome to apply.

Resident in or near Jamshedpur
Stable, safe home environment
At least one English-speaking adult in the household
Spare bedroom available for the student
Willing to include the student in family life
Cleared Rotary background check
