Rotary District 3250 proudly welcomed its first cohort of inbound Rotary Youth Exchange students to Jamshedpur this month. Students from three countries have arrived and are now settling in with their carefully selected host families across the city.
The students attended a welcome orientation organised by the District RYE committee, where they were introduced to their Rotary counsellors, briefed on local customs and culture, and given a tour of Jamshedpur including visits to Jubilee Park and the Tata Steel heritage centre.
Host families from Rotary clubs across Jamshedpur opened their homes to the visiting students, many of whom were experiencing India for the first time. The orientation included a cultural evening where host families and students shared food, music and traditions from their respective countries.
The RYE Chair expressed delight at the milestone: "This is a proud moment for District 3250. Welcoming young people from around the world into our homes and schools is exactly what Rotary's vision of peace through understanding is about. We look forward to seeing these students thrive during their year with us."
The district is now actively seeking host families for the next intake. Families interested in hosting an exchange student are encouraged to visit the Host Families section of this website.
